GO-GLOBAL ISRAEL/PALESTINE 2014

GoGlobal Israel/Palestine "Peace of Design" – Academic international collaboration between the Royal College of Art, Imperial College London, and Shenkar.

March-April 2014

GoGlobal is a project that started at the RCA in 2005 aiming to build cross-cultural educational collaborations to tackle large scale social issues. GoGlobal 2014 brought together staff and students from the RCA and the ICL Innovation Design Engineering masters' program from London, and postgraduate students from Shenkar.

On its 10th year, GoGlobal Israel-Palestine was the most ambitious collaboration so far, with the largest number of partners and students, and with a wide geographical spread on both sides of the dividing wall between Israel and the Palestinian Authority. The project covered three different regions, Galilee in the north of Israel, the Negev desert in the south Israel and the West bank.

The purpose of the three-week project was to work with a diverse range of crafts people in Israel and Palestine and to creatively imply design thinking in order to generate social and economic benefit for the partners. Working in small groups, the students were paired with partner organizations to collaboratively design and make prototypes within the scope of the project.
